Subject: Re: floppy discs
Oh fiddle! Sent it as a PM again!
Sorry.
Ok, to the list this time.
Ok real stupid question.
I have my BBC Micro (serial number 01-ANB01-3002681), A disc drive and,
finally, a selection of discs that fit it.
I can see where to plug the disc drive in, both the connecting lead and the
power lead.
I type in *disc - so far so good - to check it is working I type *run (ok,
it's not a BBC program on the disc) and it reports bad name (which is ok
because it can't possibly read it).
.
Having searched a number of sites (especially nvg.ntnu.no/bbc/), I keep
getting the error message "Disk fault 18 is at 00/00" when I try any
commands or it just happily sits there (drive light on and a sound of
static) and doesn't seem to get anywhere..
The discs I am trying are labelled " DD 48 TPI" or"High Density DS,HD IBM
at1.6mb"and do have some stuff already on them.
Am I flogging a dead horse here?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Colin Hill.
