At the risk of sending a "me too", some form of econet <-> ethernet would
certainly interest me. Depending on cost, too, of course.. I've no
practical need for it, just sounds really cool and is in line with my
interests..
An econet interface for the PC would be the most obvious implementation,
but a standalone gateway would I guess be the most flexible. (certainly in
my network, where I would expect to have multiple machines on each side,
and where windows does not dominate the PCs..) Heck, can you do an
ethernet adapter for the Beeb?
The first use I can think of for such a device would be to allow 'real'
beebs to access a fileserver on a PC, beit customised software or an
emulated BBC running a standard FS. (I've got econet over ethernet about
80% working in BeebEm, but stalled for lack of time at the moment.)
After that the sky is your limit ..
