Much of that is available in uIP - http://www.sics.se/~adam/uip/ - written
for 8 bit micros; certainly Contiki (GUI multi-tasking OS) which is linked
to it was written originally on a Commodore 64. I keep thinking that I
would like to port it to a beeb, if I could first invent a machine to give
me three times as many hours in the day.

Well... I telnetted into my FreeBSD box just yesterday - courtesy of an old
IOLAN+ serial comms server & a selection of terminal emulator ROMs. Of
course, the beeb though it was just doing dumb terminal stuff, and the
iolan did the actual telnetting, but it got there.. Now, I could do it for
real - the terminal server can talk PPP and SLIP too, so all I need to is
write a protocol stack for serial, port telnet over.... um. refer to
comment above re hours in the day...
