But in which context? It could mean that just the other (small) part of
the 8K is used for housekeeping, making a statement in trying to say
that a pretty amount of it (50 - 75 %) is available for data.
It can also suggest a pretty clever algorithem, if packet size was
already dealt with before this quote, implying simultaneous and/or
overlapping protocols for sends and receives.
That indeed /is/ a valid assumption, as 8K looks the default, certainly
not restricting all traffic to 4 - 6K packets.
I just don't know, but if so, it would be prety clever taken the
possible speed differences between the nets in mind. It's just not getting
away with your own exitements, and trying to keep away from (possible)
useless wishful thinking! :-)
