I assume that you have made sure that you've got a BASIC ROM plugged in 
somewhere?  The "language?" error indicates that it cannot find any ROMs 
with a language in them, e.g. BASIC.

If you've got the BASIC ROM installed on the sideways ROM/RAM board, try 
moving it to one of the original sockets on the main board; this should 
hopefully bypass any problems with the installation of the sideways board, 
and allow you to check what's going on elsewhere.  What other ROMs have you 
got installed, and where?
