Subject: Acorn Winchester question...
Before I do something stupid, like finding where I put the manual ;-)
Will an Acorn Winchester 120 unit work with a Master? What ROM do I need
(ADFS from memory - any specific version?)
I picked up another hard disk unit from an ex-Acorn employee, so there's
potentially interesting stuff on it - assuming the drive's still happy.
It powers up OK and makes the right noises anyway.
Right now though the Master I'm trying to drive it with isn't working
though; with DFS unplugged and ADFS inserted, doing a *. just hangs.
Thing is, it does the same with my other known-good (at least as of a
few months ago) Winchester unit, making me suspect a software / Master
hardware problem.
I only ever tried driving the hard disk unit from a BBC B before; this
is the first time I've tried it from the Master. Should it even work, or
were the disk units BBC B only?
Do I need to terminate the 'out' connector on the back of the disk unit,
or is this done on the Acorn SCSI interface board? I don't remember
having to do that before...
cheers
J.
