Subject: Going On-Line with a BEEB ...
I use Arcade BBS besed in Croydon to send and receive e-mail using my BBC B at
19200 baud rate. You can write or read mail on-line or use one of the
upload/download protocols. I believe you need to be registered to use e-mail,
but there is nothing to stop you signing in as a new member and having a look
around the BBS. Arcade will automatically add it's own sig file with the phone
number on to this message.
JG Harston developed a terminal program he named Xterm a while back. This is
the best around as far as I know? It allows X Modem for up/downloads, and Y
modem for download only although he may now have implemented the Y modem
upload ??? Xterm also has a Text / Binary option which alters line feeds into
carriage returns when downloading text. Vice verca for upload. It is well
thought out.
