Subject: ARM coprocessor progress update
Hello,
Back in July in a similar named thread we kicked around a few potentially
interesting ideas to make for the beeb, along a similar theme to the speech
upgrade kits, GoMMC, IDE interfaces and such like.
One which stirred some interest was the possibility of a new ARM coprocessor
interfacing via the familiar Tube interface (either internally for a Master
or externally where the port is available).
I thought you might like to see the current status of the design
http://www.sprow.co.uk/bbc/armcopro.htm
has some photos and the current spec. Note that I randomly increased the
spec which has meant a small (~£7-£12) increase in my cost estimate, I hope
you agree it is well worth it.
For those that registered an interest in buying one when they're ready, I'm
hoping to provide updates directly over the coming weeks rather than
cluttering up the mailing list before it is released. If you missed the
boat, it's not to late to express an interest in buying one!
Please don't try to order one yet, the only items actually available to buy
right now are
a) spare long pin headers
these are a custom part and I've got loads of spares now
b) universal power supplies
how dull
Regards,
Sprow.
