I am very well aware of that :-) I was referring to the statement you
had made apparently implying that there was no such thing as a 3.5"
double-density drive without HD capability. Later you used the term
"single sided" where previously people were discussing density and I
wondered if you had momentarily confused the terms. I pointed out that
in fact SD/DD drives were very common. I even used the term
"single/double density" because the drive can't tell the difference
between FM and MFM encoding.
Well actually a few early drives were less tolerant and didn't deal
well with the bit shifting that sometimes occurs with certain MFM bit
patterns, but they're very rare and not 3.5"!
