Sounds sweet as a nut to me.
That should be OK, so long as the pins were not in the wrong holes it's
usually not done it any harm.
You could always get an RGB SCART lead, either make your own or buy one off
eBay - I think I saw some for sale on there recently. Then you could just
plug it in to your new fangled TV and get bright and sharp RGB...
