 From an unseated board... you'll almost certainly be OK, providing 
nothing shorted against anything that it shouldn't (I remember a 
friend's soundcard in his PC years ago partially falling out and 
shorting against the case - the resulting fire was rather impressive)

Sounds like you got away with it :)

For the benefit of the list - it's always worth pulling the lid and 
checking for things like this after a machine's been shipped, just in 
case. I often disconnect power supplies internally before moving 
equipment just so I *know* someone at the other end (often me!) is going 
to have to go inside before anything will work...
