Might be that the board that plugs into the back of the CRT isn't making good 
connection with the CRT itself; you could try disconnecting that from the CRT 
then plugging it back in again to see if it makes better contact.

You should be able to see three orange glows from each of the filaments in the 
next of the CRT when the unit's on - from memory these are always wired in 
parallel, so if one (or two) of them are unlit then I'm afraid nothing can be 
done and the CRT's dead.

Bad solder joints are very common, particularly on the board plugged into the 
back of the CRT. Visual inspection and/or poking with an *insulated* tool (!) 
may reveal problems that can be fixed.

Standard cautions about working with high voltage stuff apply.


Having first one colour go and then another start to fade too seems like a 
very strange problem.
