The parity mod generates the parity bit from the data lines
instead of relying in the drive generating a parity bit.
 
The SCSI-2 mod allows you to use "large" hard drives. I'm not sure
what "large" means, but a drive large enough to partition into 60M
chunks won't work without the SCSI-2 mod, so "larger than 20M".
