Has anyone ever thought whether it's possible to turn the BBC itself into an
EPROM burner that'll cope with the common BBC ROMs?
In theory don't you just need some software and a little carrier board that
could intercept the programming pin and apply the relevant higher programming
voltage to the device from a separate supply? In other words, the machine has
all the necessary addressing built in, which is the more complex bit when
building a standalone programmer...
