Unfortunately I sold the BBC and drive yesterday to a guy at work, however I
did say to him that I'll supply him with another drive if there are any
issues with it. The drive itself was a switchable 40/80 track but I couldn't
get the disks to load no matter what setting it was at. It's probably a duff
drive - my main concern was the DFS installation (which went ok), I just
didn't want to pass on to him a Beeb with problems.
But judging by what you've just said I think its fine - if it can load
Spellbinder then its working!

And as to why Spellbinder worked, if it was a commercial disk, they were
usually 40/80 track. In fact they were 40 track, with some code in track
0 to double-step 80T drives (since track 0 of a 40T could be read in an
80T drive).
