Subject: German B

Hi All.

I'm trying to sort out my cupboard and have a German BBC Model B
going spare. It's like the American ones with all the metal
shielding, etc., but it's definitely German because it's got Warnung
and Vorsicht German warnings on the bottom! "Made in Hong Kong," and
PSU and connection info is in English. I DO have the metal bar to
cover the ribbon connectors underneath, and all the internal
shielding is in place, although it's missing the odd screw or nut
here and there. (including all nuts for the ribbon cable
cover). Serial no. 02-GNB14-1000314. I guess not many were
made? It was bought new from a micro user show many years ago, and
the foreign plug replaced with a normal one.

Top looks like any other B, with a clip in plastic cover over the
ashtray. The serial ROM connector underneath is NOT
fitted. Internally, it's a very different board to any of the other
B's I've got. I think it's probably the same as the US beeb. Rom
sockets are under a panel in the shielding middle right, rather than
bottom right. Econet is installed (though I may have done that myself
when I got it) DNFS ROM, OS ROM is "GOS ISS.1" according to the label.

I can't check exact versions as the machine fails to power up! I
think it's just the normal dead capacitor issues as this machine used
to be left on all the time. The PSU is slightly different, though,
at least in terms of physical size/shape; though it is an Astec model.

So.. Is this a particularly rare beast? Is it worth me putting it on
eBay? Anybody want it here, willing to make an offer first? I'm
happy to consider swaps..

Cheers,

Rob
