I've certainly seen 15 years quoted before - and we're way past that in most 
cases! :)

I've had a few EPROMs fail to erase and hence program properly, but so far 
I've not knowingly had one in a machine with stuck bit problems - but it's 
bound to happen sooner or later.

First thing I tend to do when getting a new bit of hardware in is dump the 
ROMs, just in case...
