Found this out over the weekend. I'd forgotten that TIME is updated in
software - the same error happens with disc formatters etc. JGH's idea
of toggling the IER is more sensible.
Oh, and FWIW the addresses in TMU weren't the proper ones, you'd want
one address higher or lower. That'll teach me for posting without
testing. Done it before... :-)
