My Master has rows of individual keyswitches soldered onto a 
normal-looking PCB, as opposed to the "membrane" type keypads. 

The fault with mine was due to someone hammering too hard on the RETURN 
key, causing the solder pads to lift away from the PCB. Could probably 
have fixed using a big blob of solder, but I decided to run short wires to 
the next nearest pad. Much neater.
