Subject: Beebem 'timer 2' updates not in main release
Does anyone remember the update that Ken Lowe made to
Beebem in August/September 2003?
The changes were made to a develepment version as the
main release wasn't being actively worked on during
that period.
However, some of the changes made (especially the
Timer 2 ones) do not seem to have made it into the
main Beebem release. As Beebem has progressed a lot
over the last few months, I thougt I'd bring this up.
Here are the release notes for Ken Lowe's version:
Below are details of the modifications I've made to
BeebEm so far:
* Added B+ support (added Shadow Ram)
* Added Integra-B addon for Model B (Shadow &
Sideways Ram board with RTC)
* Got the Level 9 adventure games working in
Graphics mode (with either B+ or Integra-B -
slight graphics corruption top, middle and bottom)
* Fixed the some of the timer 2 interrupt problems.
This has fixed the ?&FE6E=&A0 hang problem.
(needed to fix this for the Level 9 games to
work).
There are still some problems with VIA emulation
(I think this is what's causing the screen corruption
in some games), but I hope to get these sorted
soon.
He also mentions:
"Unfortunately, the VIA code is still very broken.
Both the Sys & User Via timer 2 latches should be 8
bit, but are currently configured as 16 bit. If
I try to reconfigure the latches to 8 bit, then I
break a lot of other things. I suspect that the video
code has been 'fixed' to work with 16 bit
timer 2 latches, and this is why I can't get them
working in 8 bit mode. It
would almost be easier starting from scratch..."
I am still using the executeable from Ken Lowe's
release for programs (Fingerprint) that require the
timer 2 interrupt (?&FE6E=&A0) fixes; however I can't
seem to find source code for this version! Maybe only
Ken Lowe has the source (I think he's still active on
this list from time to time).
Any chance of these changes being implemented in the
current version of Beebem?
Steve.
