I once hex dumped a set of PDP11 ROM's from a Husky CNC Lathe, using the
serial card debug method, then OCR'd them into a PC, Split and
re-checksummed the results, and burned them into a new set of ROM's. The
problem was that the original ROM's were 2708. (had 3 power rails
+12,.+5,-5), and my jig for reading them was on a BBC at home, and I was in
Coventry with most other kit available. Most modern EPROM programmers won't
touch a 2708. The reason for all the fuss was to replace 4, (very flakey),
old DEC boards of 2708's with 1 MRV11-C board of 2716's.

To check out, I redid the dump and then put the sheets on top of each other
on a light box.

Never, Ever, again!
