I suspect that picking combinations that result in the most similar levels of 
plastic colour fade is the best that you can do :-/

IME most ex-schools ones have always been totally mixed up anyway - if yours 
were sourced from elsewhere then maybe you don't have that problem...

(thinking about it though, are there different 'feels' of Compact keyboards 
around like there are for model B's?)
