Aha - thanks. Do you mean between the modulator and the motherboard, or
inside the modulator itself? I've never taken one apart before.

I was concerned that the ULA could be the cause, but on this machine it
is not socketed and anyway the problem starts immediately you switch the
machine on. Doesn't seem to be related to overheating really.
