Subject: Atom 'word pack' ROM?
Anyone know what this is/was? I picked up a couple of Atoms this evening
(along with a System 3 and a carload of other junk^H^H^H^Hstuff).
The ROMs have been overwritten (now scribbled in pen as being Econet ROMs) so
I can't just look at the contents - 'word pack' isn't something I've come
across before, though. The ROM labels are properly printed, as though it was a
proper product rather than a homebrew bit of software.
It's mildly annoying that these Atoms were networked originally (with the
System 3 being their fileserver) but someone's had the Econet boards out of
both the Atoms and the fileserver at some point over the years :-(
On the plus side, the Atoms came originally from one of the labs at Cambridge
uni and still have System laboratory interface boards bolted into the bottom
of the cases, which makes them a little different from the norm.
Oh, and they still have their voltage regulators and heatsinks, which is
unusual - nearly every Atom I've ever seen has had them ripped out in order to
drive them from an external supply.
(the System 3 looks fairly standard - CPU, VDU, FDC, VIB, floppy drive, and a
hole where the Econet board once was)
cheers
Jules
