Subject: Re: What types of 3.5" Floppy work best with the BBC Micro ?

I use a PC one, but it will only format the old 720K DD disks. I have tried
with 1.44MB but with no luck, I couldn't get them to format.

By all accounts you need a Master or a B with a 1770 Disc Controller, the
8721? won't work. Works with DFS and ADFS on my machine too.

Hope this helps.

a 3.5" floppy drive for my Beeb and was wondering if anybody
has had any success in getting a PC 1.44Mb drive to work ? Can't believe the
prices that I'm seeing on Ebay for original drives !

Failing that, would an old DSDD 3.5" drive from say an Atari or Amiga
external unit work ?

Happy to take a soldering iron to a floppy to make it work if necessary :-)

Thanks in advance,

Robin
