Files with .ssd or .dsd (or .img or .adf for that matter) extensions are BBC disc
images, ie. exact sector-by-sector copies of an entire disc. So you can't copy
them onto an already-formatted BBC and be able to read them, what you have to
do is to write the disc image directly to the disc using a sector reader/editor
like OMNIFLOP (Google will find this for you) for Windows or FDC for DOS.
SSD are Acorn DFS compatible single surface disc images (100K/200K)
DSD are Acorn DFS compatible double surface disc images (200K/400K)
IMG are the same as SSD
ADF are Acorn ADFS compatible images (160K/320K/640K).
You will need to format the disc in the correct format on the BBC first and then
use Omniflop.
Best wishes,
Ian

Subject: [BBC-Micro] Turning dsd. and ssd. disk images to usable DFS/ADFS
with DOSFS
Hello
Help needed by a frustrated user!!!
I have a BBC Master 128 with a 3.5 floppy drive and one of Sprow's DOSFS
ROMS.
I can format 3.5 floppy disks to 720k that both the Master and my PC can
read. I can drag and drop dsd and ssd files to the floppy and when using
*MOUNT and *CAT on the Master the files are there but I do not know how to
run them.
I have tried downloading the disktools from mdfs.net and have transferred
them to floppy. The BBC recognises these on the floppy but I do not know
how to turn the images into usable DFS/ADFS files. The BBC can LIST the
disktools but I do not know how to use them - I cannot find any
instructions anywhere.
Any suggestions?
