Hi there :-)

When I got my Atom (as a kit) it just came with exactly as you described.

There was no power supply, you had to provide an unregulated DC supply of
around 9v. As the two 7805 (I think) 5v regulators used to get so hot I
desoldered them and ran a cable to the rear of the Atom which went off to an
external supply. I used an LM323K 5amp 5v regulator mounted on the top of a
die cast aluminium box.

I'd bet most Atom's you'll find are like this, you could fry eggs on the top
of the case as the little heatsink provided was so inadequate !

I still have an original Acorn Atom floating point ROM somewhere if anyone
would like one.....

Regards,
Robin

... as standard? I don't think I've ever seen one in a box with anything
other
than its polystyrene packaging bits. I've certainly never seen an official
Acorn power supply - did one get included in the box as standard or was that
a
separate purchase from Acorn? (I've never seen an Atom that hasn't had the
regulators bypassed to run with an external 5V supply - in fact it seems
rare
to find an Atom where the regulators/heatsink haven't been removed
altogether)

Did they ship with any tapes? What about documentation? I'm assuming that
the
"Atomic Theory and Practice" book, technical manual, character codes sheet,
problem report sheet, and user group application all came as standard - was
there anything else?

Jules
