You'll have seen my response to the list, and perhaps even ploughed
through the webpage I set up, if you're sufficiently determined.  What
I've not said, though, is that the drives I know of that suppress the
INDEX pulse are TEAC FD235-HF.  It may be that others do as well, but
that series is the only one for which I have full data sheets and which
do the suppression.

On those TEAC drives, the suppression option, or masking as TEAC
sometimes call it, can be disabled by inserting a jumper for HMK (half
mask) or NMK (no mask).  Not only that, but normally the masking is
gated with the write line, so it doesn't affect reading.

I wondered if the above matches your experience?
