A had a simple UV eraser (still have it somewhere I hope) and I think the n
ormal erasure time was about 20 mins and I had a wall socket timer to ensur
e it kept to this time. Can't remember what the max time was.
I also wonder if anyone else had a programming set up similar to myself. I
bought a PC programmer made by I think a company called EPP. I bought a PC
one because it was controlled from a serial port and I wanted it to work wi
th the PC's at uni and my Beeb and Arc. It only came with PC software thoug
h. My plan was to write software to program it from my Beeb. I bit of a ris
ky venture as the unit cost about £130 I think and being a student I didn
't have a lot of spare cash so it was a big investment.
I managed to wire up a cable that connected it to my Master and IIRC I used
the inbuilt terminal software to send data to the programmer (had to set b
aud, parity etc. first). But it worked a treat. Never did make the effort to
get it to work with my Arc and never even used it with a PC. So I suppose
in that sense it was a bit of a waste of money. But I'm fairly sure I've st
ill got it packed away somewhere and would still now work on all three mach
ines (with appropriate software) so guess it was a good long term investmen
t. That's if I didn't throw it away some years ago. I really hope not !
