A long shot, but have you tried swapping out the 6522 VIA chips ?

A long time ago I had an issue 7 BBC Micro which wouldn't start up (just got
a long bleep and blank screen), iirc there were two 6522's on the board and
I was able to get it to boot by swapping the chips over.

These chips have timer functionality which is potentially used in a lot of
places so they're fairly fundamental.

HTH

Robin

Yes I have since they are both socketed. The current VIDPROC is a VTI one so
I assume in the past the original VIDPROC was replaced with the current one.

Do you think the fault is caused by a video circuit problem? Do you think
it's more likely to be IC related, connection related or some other
component?

Thanks,

Mike.
