Heh heh, that was my thought too (I mean that mine wouldn't be very good, not
that yours wouldn't be! :-)

I just wondered if it had been tried, given that the wealth of 8-bit game
experience could be drawn upon in order to (in theory) design something that
was both challenging and playable.

I got involved in a port of Repton 2 to the PC a few years ago, but can't help
feeling that given how much more fun 8-bitter games are than modern
counterparts, it'd be more interesting to write something for the original
hardware.
