Subject: Microvitec CUBs

Hello everyone!

I've only just subscribed, this is my first post.

I recently bought a load of BBC (and other) stuff off eBay for a fiver, and
had to collect it from Wales. I'm having a lot of fun getting stuff to work
and cleaning it up, but not so much with the monitors. (Some stuff's Econet-
only, but I'll save that post for later).

There's 7 CUBs, and due to what would appear to be poor long-term storage in
farm outbuildings, they're marginal at best. List of problems so far: jittery
pictures, purple or blue tints, squeal noises, odd vertical linearity, bad
focus, total loss of horizontal sync, over-bright picture/non-functional
contrast knob. All of them have slightly vase-shaped pictures.

Which leads to my question: what do I do with them? I don't know a great deal
about fixing monitors, although I've adjusted a few in the past. I can't
download the service manual because it was on 8bs.com. Does anybody want 7
marginal, dirty CUB monitors? I'd probably be prepared to give them away, I
really (*really* ) don't like throwing things away. I may even have an 8th,
dead one that I've had for years in my loft.

Regards,

Alex Taylor
