I don't know how well I'd fare under Linux on this old laptop, either -
depending on whether newer formats need more CPU horsepower (because their
compression algorithms are more complex).

What sort of storage requirements are needed? If it's a useful idea, I've got
unlimited bandwidth and storage space over on classiccmp.org so could put high
quality versions on there. I expect the site admin would accept a CD / DVD in
the mail and upload the content for me.
