*** Health warning - never seen the schematic, no idea what the clock chip
in use is, and just surmising, but...

There's probably a quartz crystal used as the timing reference for the clock
chip. Often these are 32Khz types, in a very small cylindrical can. Might be
that this crystal has aged and is way off frequency ?

Robin

I have the same real-time clock problem with one of my FileStore E01Ses,
which uses the
same clock chip. I never got to the bottom of it so any help would be much
appreciated.

Best wishes,

Ian

Subject: [BBC-Micro] Master ET

I've been fixing up a couple of Masters I've got, including the Master ET I
recently got from
Wales. Once I'd put a mains cable on and fixed the resultant exploded
capacitor, then reset the
CMOS and configured it, it seems to work, except a wierd problem with the
RTC. It runs much too
fast. Does anybody know what might be causing this? I thought maybe the RTC
needs good batteries to
work even with the machine switched on, but this was just a guess and I
wonder if anyone could shed
any light on this before I go and make up a battery pack.

I'll probably be putting the machine on eBay anyway, because I've got far
too many computers, and
the ET is completely useless to me (although I'd love a working Econet).
