Subject: [OT] BBC Master AIV - Overheating

This is exactly how I started with Domesday, bit by bit. It's
not very often that a full Domesday System comes up.

You don't actually need a Master AIV, I don't have one and
I've never seen one in the flesh! You can upgrade a Master
128 by getting hold of the right bits. The SCSI board is
the sticking point, that's very hard to come by but if you
get hold of one you've cracked it because all you need
then is a 6502 co-processor (even an external cheese
wedge will do), VFS ROM (image available online) and
a user port mouse if you can't find the trackerball. The
mouse/trackerball isn't essential actually as Domesday
will work quite happily with the cursor keys and function
keys.

Also you don't necessarily need the LV-ROM remote
control. It's handy to have for the "Goto" frame
function and the on-screen counter display but it's not
essential for running Domesday.

So my advice is don't despair, keep looking - when that
Master Turbo comes up on E-Bay, ask the seller to take
the lid off and check if it's got the SCSI board inside, or
if it has an "AVC" serial number instead of "AMB", then
buy it quick before anybody else realises!!

Best wishes,

Ian

Where did you find an AIV, I have been looking for ages for one. I have the
Domesday Discs and the LV-ROM drive but not been able to find the AIV.
