Subject: EliteGL and other now-defunct remakes

Hi,

I'm considering putting together a site which describes in detail those
versions of Elite which have been pulled for legal reasons. As part of the
research, I'd like to put together a list of files with hash values etc.
which need to be calculated from the original files which have now mostly
been pulled from the web.

The first one I've been looking for is EliteGL which was an OpenGL version
based on Elite: The New Kind's source.

elitegl-win32-1.0.0.zip [2MB]
elitegl-data-1.0.0.tar.gz [1.7MB]
elitegl-1.0.0.tar.gz [130K]

The original downloads of the above were removed from the site ages ago. I
wondered (slim chance) if anyone managed to get them before that happened.

If anyone can point me in the right direction of those files (or any other
remakes of elite which have disappeared), it would be much appreciated.

Sam.

P.S. Yes, searching for them is technically illegal. I do own at least
five official versions of Elite, incl. Frontier and Frontier: First
Encounters, so I put this action in the same category as ripping MP3s from
my CDs, running Beeb games ripped from their original disks and keeping
recordings off the telly for an indefinite period of time. My conscience is
willing to risk it, and I do intend to delete the files after I've got the
hash info I want from them (not intending to host them).
