This reflects my views too.
I'm a BBC Micro user (when it's working) and also an Electron user.
Just someone who enjoys the thing and, occasionally, writes a few BASIC
programs of no great complexity.
I found the list via a page regarding the emulators (seemed good doing the
same stuff on the PC and playing the games as well).
I don't have any technical know-how whatsoever and maybe that's the point.
Some of will genuinely try to answer a non-technical question ("how do I
unscrew the case") without realising our limitations (and possibly a
technical one because we really think we do know the answer).
Surely the point of the list is to encourage those of us who don't have
those skills to learn them from the experts here and thus, keep the BBC
Micro alive and well rather than just a discussion between sages?.
I have had kind offers of help from this list (and the occasional "you're
thick, get off the list until you know more") but it's only by asking that I
can learn.
I do, at least, know where to look for the various electrical doo-hickeys
inside the box and what bits are likely to have dried out or come loose.
Please don't shut us out. We want to learn and, sometimes, what is obvious
to most of you is a mystery to us. Most importantly, without asking, we
don't know what we are looking for on the websites or where to find the
answer.
