Subject: Electronics Advice Needed for Beeb Project

Greetings all,

I'm (still) just about to start building Martin Mathers' mmc card interface
but there's one aspect of the circuit that's puzzling me and I wondered if
anyone versed in electronics could explain it to me I'll be very grateful!
I *could* just go ahead and build it on trust that it's right - I have no
evidence otherwise - but my curiosity needs quelling. As you might guess
I'm a very early stage beginner in hobby electronics and if this is
anything to go by that's as far as I'm getting ;)

The circuit diagram is at http://mmbeeb.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ and
the part that I'm unsure about is the purple connection from CB2 to SDO.
SDO is the serial data output from the MMC card in SPI mode. To my
untrained eye it just looks like the diode is cutting off all electrical
activity - please don't laugh :D

Many thanks in advance,

Charlie
