Subject: ARM coprocessor software upgrade available
Dear All,
Recently the last of the first batch of ARM7TDMI coprocessors shipped out of
the door and has rapidly been followed up by a new batch (same hardware
design, just newer date codes on the chips!).
For those who have joined recently it's a coprocessor which attaches to the
Tube interface (internally for the Master, externally otherwise) and has an
ARM processor and 16MB of RAM, typically running BASIC programs up to 200
times faster than the BBC B!
For existing owners, there is now a new version of the ARM Tube OS available
to download which updates the flash ROM of the ARM. All new coprocessors
ordered from today will come with it installed by default.
The new version adds
* new command *MEMORY to dump regions of memory as words, halfwords, or
bytes
* new command *INITSTORE to initialise the application RAM with a default
value (useful for programmers)
* a handful of bugfixes to OS_ReadUnsigned and OS_WriteEnv
* new OS_Word 15 subreason code to set the clock as a 5 byte integer
* enhancements to OS_PlatformFeatures and OS_ChangeEnvironment
See the downloads section of
http://www.sprow.co.uk/bbc/armcopro.htm
please take time to read the instructions included in the ZIP before
starting an upgrade. The upgrade is very fast, around 5 seconds, and does
not require removing the lid of the machine.
Regards,
Sprow.
