Subject: file transfer from PC to GoMMC

Hi people,

Has anyone else had troubles in transferring things downloaded from the
internet on a PC to BBC machine, for example when John Kortink
publishes new updates for the GoMMC?

One method is to use *LOAD/*SAVE to transfer files as follows:

  *INFO <filename>

Make a note of the load/execution addresses and size

  *LOAD <filename> 1900
  *SAVE <filename> 1900 +<length> <execution> <load>

I find it so much quicker and easier than using the Omniflop method.

Robert Sprowson has developed DOSFS which can be used to transfer files
with the *LOAD/*SAVE technique, but that limits the file size to
HIMEM-PAGE (about 20k in MODE 7 usually), so for small files like 'MMCUP',
that would work fine.

For larger files if you have the ARM7 co-processor too, one can safely do
these transfers for files of many megabytes. Just remember that PAGE isn't
at 1900!

Best wishes all,

Raf
