Subject: Copying floppies corrupts my GoMMC

Hi

I've been trying to copy a number of discs using my new GoMMC and every
time I try, it hangs at about 2%-18%.

All discs are 80track double sided double density and are playable
directly using Watford DFS 1.44. Some discs are just compilations, some
are educational discs that *may* be copy protected.

For example, on the BBC and using the command *MMCTOOL MMCADDG $2$ COMP1
on one of the compilation discs, it gets to 18% and then hangs. I've
waited for 15 minutes or so
just in case it takes time, but it doesn't progress any further.

After power-cycling, the GoMMC is corrupted and I have to restore it via
the Tool ROM, using MMCUP and MMCWI

Does anyone know what might be wrong?
Is it 'normal' for the GoMMC to corrupt itself if I choose the wrong
disc type? (say, $2$ instead of $1$ ?)

(I've posted this on the Yahoo Groups 'gommc' forum too)

Thanks in advance
Richard
