Subject: Using a TFT screen for Beeb output

I do this ... I tried using a "Logic 3 VGA Box" to link the Beebs up,
but it seems that the (second hand) model I have doesn't like talking
to TFTs.

There ARE similar more modern devices that will do the job, e..g this one:

What I /have/ considered, if they ever come down in price enough so
it's worth replacing my monitor, is to use an LCD-TV as monitor - they
generally have SCART inputs so will take the output from a Beeb no
problem, and most have a VGA input so you can link to the PC. You may
have a more limited range of resolutions that a dedicated monitor,
though.

(We've got a huge plasma in the front room, that has a VGA input, but
at the distance I sit my 15" laptop screen on my lap is larger and
easier to see...)

Oh I dunno.. I've been using google apps mail lately, which I assume
is gmail in disguise, and am pretty happy with it. I used to use
Eudora, but with nearly 2GB in it's mail folders it was getting
terribly slow and unreliable. I just use that to download and archive
the mail now. At least threading works nicely..
