LOL Floppy controller, haven't seen one of those for at least 10 years, you
are thinking to narrow to your old PC as a host for a card. Macs haven't had
floppy controllers for donkeys years and you would be hard pressed to find
any PC on current Intel Core or AMD processors with any form of floppy
controller on board. If we went down that road in a couple of years time you
would still have to have a second box on your desk, just it would be an old
PC that still had PCI and Floppy controllers. A much bigger box than a real
BBC kind of defeating the purpose of your original requirements.

There are a lot of people who use non-pc hardware and tying to a PC would be
really backward looking. Having a network interface would mean you could use
it with Sun boxes or Sgi's for example.
