That was in the days when you had tp pay for the TCP/IP Protocol Suite, and
!Gateway was part of File Server Level 4.
TCP/IP and Gateway are now all build in into RISC OS.
I think this happened during 3.50 > 3.60 > 3.70
RISC OS 4 has it all:

TCP/IP : no greyed out items anymore for via Reverse ARP
                                         via BOOT
                                         via DHCP

Gateway : just an tick box in the 'Resolver and host name' window

Same for !BootNet application (or was it !NetBoot?) : DON'T use it.


OTOH, on a real Archimedes, then you're probably right.
I need to check that when I've sorted out my Risc Pc's Econet!
But that's RISC 3.xx.
