Most of my Masters have had 3 Duracell AA cells in shrinkwrap, down
the left hand side of the keyboard. These have all had diodes in them.
In fact a few of them I rebuilt using AA cells and the original diode
and wiring, soldered and then wrapped together with insulating tape.

I have had at least one Master with the AA cells in a plastic holder,
which made them nice and easy to replace. I don't remember if there
was a diode in there.
