Wasn't the original exploding Master problem due to the machine
attempting to recharge a lithium cell?

I'm thinking it ought to be possible to design a rechargable NiCd
battery pack, although given how long a pack of 3 AAs lasts and how
little they cost, it would probably be completely pointless.
