This is where the original attempt at a backup bettery went. It was a
lithium battery, and IIRC some problem  reverse charged it, causing some to
catch fire. Whether this only occurred under fault conditions or with
certain batteries I do not knw.

The original is on page 243 of the Master Welcome guide, (the one with the
cream cover).
