Subject: Duplicating DFS / ADFS floppies
I seem to remember there was a useful tool ROM called Enigma Disk Imager
although I can't recall ever trying to duplicate ADFS disks with it.
<goes away and plays for a sec...>
I've just checked with beebem and it appears capable of duplicating ADFS
disks without the ADFS ROM being fitted. I do think it needs a 1770...

Subject: [BBC-Micro] Duplicating DFS / ADFS floppies
What's the least-painless way of duplicating both DFS and ADFS floppies?
Potentially-useful stuff I've got:
A B+ with both ADFS and 1770 DFS ROMs in it.
An EPROM burner.
A floppy with a working copy of AFORM on it so I can format ADFS disks.
Possibilities seem to be:
- Some sort of simple one-liner already built into both DFS and ADFS
ROMs (seems unlikely).
- Some sort of simple BASIC program to do a sector-by-sector copy
(assuming a formatted destination disk)
- Some sort of downloaded floppy-based utility to do the job.
- Some sort of utility that might already be lurking on various
welcome, utils etc. disks.
- Some sort of ROM-based utility to do the job.
What are other people using? I suspect it's far easier for me to download a
ROM image and burn an EPROM than it is for me to download a disk image and
write that out (the latter involves either screwing around with xfer, or
bouncing the image to a machine that'll both understand the image format and
is able to write sector data correctly)
I think I've got Watford and Viglen utils disks kicking around the place,
but
I suspect that even if they do come with a duplicator, they won't be happy
with ADFS media. The only copy of the ADFS utils disk I have is
unfortunately
trashed (and version 0.1 too and so probably full 'o bugs :-)

Jules
