My little 'test' Econet [1] is/was like that (it's not surfaced from the
cupboard in a while ;) - about 50cm of CAT5 either side of the (Acorn) clock
box and a dual-socket distribution box (SJ I think) at each end of the network.
I seem to recall having a SJ terminator plugged into one distribution box, but
can't recall what I did at the other end of the network. Anyway, it worked...
[1] I'd always assumed the 'Eco' was 'Economy', but I saw one (period) article
recently stating that it was derived from the Greek to mean 'home' or 'local'.
Unfortunately none of the early Acorn Econet docs I have give the history of
the name, and I suspect it may well have evolved to mean 'economy' over time
if it didn't start out that way...
