I've converted several cheap Sony 3.5" drives I picked up from Ebay -  
they usually go for under ?5.

It's easy to see where DS0 and DS1 are on the drive's PCB - put a  
jeweller's flat bladed screwdriver against the solder blob for DS1,  
smack the end lightly with a hammer, off comes the solder with no  
damage to the PCB. Put a new blob of solder over holes for DS0. Takes  
about 5 mins, very easy to do.
